poor knights lily question

hello all,
I've got a couple of Xeronema growing in large pots in a mixture of pumice, gravel, broken down tree fern and sand. They're in a fairly sunny spot on a concrete patio, but get shelter from afternoon sun. They've struggled through this summer, and I'm wondering about how to get them thriving. What are their watering requirements? Should I water frequently, or treat them more as a succulent? I lost some of the fans to rot last week, but I can't work out whether it's the heat, or whether some of the fines in the mix aren't permitting free enough drainage. When is the main period of growth?
any help would be much appreciated,

Mine only get the rain, some of the fans rotted last year in the summer too. I would check the hole at the bottom of the pot is not blocked, shove a screwdriver of something similar in from the bottom. Maybe if you drench them with Champion copper at the recomended rate 1 tsp to a litre of water, that will help with the rot. Mine is about 10 years old and been in this pot for about 6-7 years. Have a look naturallynatives.co.nz may have some advice there I have only ever given it fert once, it is due to be repotted but I think I will have to smash the pot to get it out. |
