Hello everybody !
Two questions:
To your opinion, between "Sophora gnome howinsula" and Sophora microphylla "Sun king"which is the most deeper yellow ?
Which one will be flowering in the same time as the Clianthus puniceus ?
Thank you
phil

RE: Sophora flowers

Gnome usually starts flowering in late winter. So do some of the microphyllas.

Both can be slow to come to flowering and the Clianthus may well have passed on before the kowhais really get into reliable flowering.

I'd hesitate to say which has the stronger yellow coloration because there can be a lot of variation even between plants of similar provenance.

As an aside - in a long row of Sophora, all in flower, there'll be maybe two or three being worked by various bird species - with the others untouched. Something to do with the timing of the nectar flow is my guess.
