Some flowers out now

Late winter and spring is a harsh time of year here. Despite that there are some flowers putting on a display regardless. What's worse this year is that it's drier than normal (in terms of relative humidity, it doesn't rain anyway), and I had a lot of tall trees cut out which had provided some shade. So a lot of plants are scorched and waiting for the rains to come. And some plants just haven't made it.

This is my large Amorphophallus gigas.

Forgotten the name of this Gardenia. There were 2 that were crushed by falling tree limbs, only this one survived and started flowering.

Not many Hippeastrums will cope with the tropics and flower. So we don't get much of a range of colours.

Turnera species, well out of the way of the trees, they flower all year, just that the dry season flowers area bit smaller than the wet season ones.

Heliconia rostrata, I have a tall growing form and a short growing form.

Bought this as Star Jasmine, not a fast grower here, and not a lot of flowers. Haven't noticed any perfume either.

Beehive Ginger, those are actually only flower bracts, the individual flowers emerge from between them.

Bauhinia blakeana flowers continuously, but mine is still a small tree so no spectacular displays yet.

Brazilian Button Flower is a ground cover with a tendency to get a bit weedy. But our hot dry weather keeps it from straying too far away from the irrigation.

Another Heliconia, from memory "Jamaica", a dwarf form with upright flowers.

Ixora, a dense shrub that flowers continuously. Another that can get a bit weedy.
