Alison, did you give me this?

I'm trying to work out where I got this white suaveolens-type brugmansia from, as the cut corolla petals are quite unusual. I remember receiving some cuttings and seeds from Alison, but can't be sure if this was among them. Does this ring a bell? Does anyone have a similar brug with dissected petals like this one?

No, I haven't. Had an orangie one once, Angel's trumpet; a cutting from the late Valery Swain's garden (Swain's the Rosearians,) but it croaked!

Wrong Alison LOL I meant Alison in SEQ, from memory who lived in a street of the same name. I remember getting a parcel containing both brug cuttings and seeds, and think that one of them was supposed to be a 'double white'. I'm just trying to trace the source of this brug to determine its parentage.

Hi, I'm still around occasionally Not me, I didn't have any double whites until recently (and not even proven by flowers yet). did I have an unscented white that I swapped a cutting for a bit of someone else's supposed orange but I don;t think was you, Cestrum, so can't help. Yes still in the same st. Waves to you and to Bill too

Oh no, I was sure they were from you ... now I'll never trace the source of that brug! (I never did get double-whites from the batch of seeds that accompanied the cuttings, although I now have knightii from my mother's garden, the local double white ... local in the sense that knightii has been in Australia since the 1850s, and is apparently the precursor to all modern doubles.) Send me an email thru GW if you have any requests as I'm sure we've swapped *something* in the past--actually, we must have as that's the only reason I could remember your street name :-)

Wave to you too, Alisonoz, trust you are well and your garden is blooming. Sorry we're no help with the Brug. Cestrum, do a 'Google' on it you might be able to pick up some seeds that way.
RE: Alison, did you give me this?

I'm not looking for seeds (I have my own, from my brugs), just trying to track down the source/parentage of that suaveolens hybrid.
RE: Alison, did you give me this?

If you have a photo cestrum, you could try posting it in the Name That Plant forum. They're pretty good at i.d.ing plants, origins, etc.
RE: Alison, did you give me this?

It would be just one of the myriad of unnamed brugmansia hybrids around, virtually impossible to identify unless you hybridised it yourself or got a cutting from the hybridiser. Every time you rub the pollen from one of these hybrid brugs onto the stigma of another, presto! You've just created another hybrid :-) So tracking the source is the only hope I had of identifying the parents of this brug.

Yeah, you're probably right, but you could try it, nothing ventured nothing gained, you know. After all that photo looks a bit unique.
