HAVE: Castanospermum australe

Have a lot of ripe pods if any one wants seeds for themselves or friends for postage - but they are large seed, parcel-sized stuff, not cheap to mail.

Alison, I can still remember as a child making boats out of the big pods. (and throwing the huge seeds at each other)

John, I'll bet you weren't the only one making pod boats!

Rug, I'm afraid you have your e-mail blocked and no way of contacting you through your home page.

There are some un-opened pods, the trouble is after all this time there may be some insect damage. Given the nature of the seed (more like an avocado-sized bean, really) and your being in WA - with very stringent quarantine requirements, I think we'd best forget it.

Hi, do you have any left? I'd like to use these as an exercise for my kids - the seeds are really visible and tactile, and the plant grows fast and strongly. I just can't seem to find any un-germinated ones in the shops at all.

If you left the pods behind would that reduce the insect issue?

Desmondo,
You also have your e-mail blocked and no access through your home page.
So if you read this, I had a hunt on the embankment and could find 6 seeds looking reasonable and un-eaten (it is a long time since my original post).
I agree, they are an excellent choice for children. Even gave me a bit of fun I could not resist planting a few and they are growing strong and straight and glossy. They make a good patio plant for a long time, then maybe you can find somewhere to "liberate" them.
No charge for the seed of course but it will be a small parcel and a few dollars for the postage.
Please contact me direct soonish - privately - with your e-mail and postal details.
Alison
