| Hi..does anyone have some iris reticulata george..i can pay postage or trade some seeds. |

Can you grow I. reticulata up there in Qld? I would check this out before you buy an expensive bulb. My understainding is that they like the same conditions as crocus. I am unsure if George is available in Australia, but we are fairly limited for reticulatas here. Try the current plant finder .....better still I will go look it up now ...... No luck...
It lists Harmony, J.S.Dijt, Katherine Hodgkin and Pauline only.
If you are looking for just something like it, I would suggest Harmony as a good alternative. Quite a few bulb nurseries carry this cultivar now. Be aware that the bloom time is very brief, snails adore these delicacies, and any heat will dehydrate the delicate blooms very quickly. In the USA it is most common to see blooms poking through the snow.

| Jan..thanks for your help..yes I can grow them here even though sub-tropical, I live in an area about 2000ft high so mostly cool all year and quite cold in winter but no snow. I have harmony already and they did quite well..george is dark blue and would contrast with harmony a sort of purple...can grow most bulbs up here but not tulips very successfully..and I will keep a good eye out for snails..but more pressing round here are hares, bandicoots and scrub turkeys...thanks again, Danny |

Try Marcus Harvey in Tasmania. He might not have it on his catalogue list, but he may very well grow it. He would be the most likely supplier in Australia.
