HAVE: Elephant Garlic

Elephant Garlic........

We have elephant garlic [chive garlic, Russian garlic] bulbs again this season, and if anyone is interested we will make it the same arrangement as last year. We will send them if anyone sends stamps to cover the postage of the amount of bulbs they require. There is no cost for the bulbs, just the cost for postage.

Last year some people sent a post pack that would be paid for at their end, when it was delivered with the bulbs. This seems a very good system. It allows us to fill the post pack and just post it to the address thereon at our post office.

The elephant garlic is organically grown, without chemicals, and can be eaten, but are best planted out to produce even more for the following year. The best planting time is autumn, and some bulbs will consist of several cloves and some will be just one bulb. All are suitable for eating or planting. The latter if planted will create a much larger bulb with cloves when planted in autumn and harvested in summer.

Be well,
Charlie
