| My mother brought over some eggplant for me yesterday. They were the size of a tennis ball and perfectly round, sort of a varigated lime green colour. They have heaps of seeds (which were bigger than normal eggplant) in them but were really delicious. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Do you think the seeds will be viable I have put a side a few from the more ripe looking fruit. I want to grow some, I'm getting right into eggplant at the moment I have about 8 plants at present a mix of early purple and black beauty. I'm thinking about getting some different types I think eden seeds has about ten varieties. OK any imput would be much appreciated, Mick |

| Mick, it sounds like one of the SE Asian varieties, possibly Thai. Hope the seeds work out for you. |

| Mick, I can recommend Rosa Bianca (Eden Seeds) which is meant to be one of the best. Also Applegreen, which is a green round variety, Violeta de Firenze, and any of the lebanese varieties, such as Lunga di Napoli. The one you describe sounds like a Thai type. Kermit is meant to be a good one of these. Eden seeds, and also New Gippsland had some good varieties. Cheers, Manuel. |

Kermit and many other Asian eggplants are F1 seeds so if you grow the seeds you have saved from the fruit, you don't know what you'll end up with. Some can be quite nice, some can be as thorny and bitter as the ones I grew one year... Rose-Marie |
