Heres the early fruit on my Nepal X Tommy Toe cross. These fruit set about a week ago and are marble size. Check out the enormous sepals

Wow! Interesting. Looks like a Nepal spread with TT fruit. Then again, the buggers are bound to swell to a good size. Especially with skirts like that. I'm guessing, having grown Nepal and TT, you're gonna get a really zippy Jaune Flammee-like one in there somewhere. And also golf-ball sized. Yum!

Here they are. They range from 25 to 60 Grams and look pretty much like Polish Dwarfs and Russian Reds, and they all taste pretty much the same. Great in salads, with more tomato taste than cherries.

Good stuff, Mantis. You managed the impossible - to inject some flavour into a Tommy Toe!

Next year should see some good stuff Mantis. Segregation begins in the F2.

Has anyone thought of the reverse strategy - crossing Sungold (yes, the F1) with a medium to large tomato in effort of getting the unique Sungold flavor into a large tomato???

Craig (from the US)

I dont like the taste of Sungold Craig, sorry.
I have crossed Brandywine with College Challenger in an attempt to get more taste into the CC's. CC is a prolific producer of medium size round reds. I will be sowing some of these the week after next after getting back from holidays. I might try some F2's from the ones above as well. Off to pull more spent plants from the greenhouse now.
Cheers Mantis

I'm growing Sungold this year. I tried some of the ones Finbar grew afew years back, but need to grow it myself to remember the super-sweet taste. Am finding Sweet 100 almost too sweet now.
