pink velvet banana

I've got some pink velvet banana seeds on the way - has anyone had experience in growing them?

do you plant the seed where they are to grow or in pots and then transplant?

there's lots of info in the banana forum in the USA about picking the bananas and the general growing habits - but nothing about germination.

thanks

I didn't realise you could get banana seeds. I guess the original common one did have seeds but got selected out. Don't know anything about them but would love to see a picture when you get fruit.

Raymondo - some pics of the pink velvet banana

there are apparently a lot of seed bananas - but they aren't all availablein Australia - the queensland and NSW banana cartels have banned the import of anything remotely related to interesting bananas.

the banana forum on OZ gardening is a brilliant resource for the varieties available in the USA
