Is it safe to eat the leaves of a sweet potato plant? I've been told they go well in stir fries.

I'm also interested in this, as they are said to be high in the good thing/s for eye health.

Have heard the same, but I usually just prune mine with the garden shears and add to the compost...

That's intriguing, given that the plants are so easy to grow here. Mine are self-germinating from bits and pieces left in the veggie patch from last year's harvest.

Just wondering, though: there's some confusion (in my mind, anyway) over yams and sweet potatoes, as apparently the two are different species. Exactly which plant has these leaves that are safe and nutritious to eat? (My plants come from shop-bought tubers, so the tubers are safe but I still don't know about the leves.)

Well, this article doesn't discuss the edibility of the leaves, but does (sort of) explain the difference...
