Hello everyone, firstly I must thank you for all the posts which I have read to aquaint myself tonight, what a great chatty bunch you are !!
Hubby and I live in Adelaide in the Northern Suburbs and have just started taking a interest in growing our own vegies ( has something to do with the price of them I think), we already have a raised bed which we have vegies jammed packed in there and are now looking at other areas of the garden to plant more . I am waiting on some tomato seeds from Patrina which I am quite excited about .... I didnt know there were so many "types" of tomatoes and yes I think I have been bitten by that bug that quite a few of you have ( am yet to convince hubby that you can grow tomatoes upside down yet )I will be trying the older seeds Patrina has.
I have come across on ebay a man who sells lots of heritage tomatoes and I was wondering if I should grab any particular type , I was thinking of not only my own use but in view to maybe sharing at a later date ?? this is what the guy has listed :

Glory Of Moldova Heirloom Tomato Seeds
Cherokee Chocolate heirloom tomato seed

I realise that some seeds may be available through here but I want to get some that maybe others do not have so I can share at a later date

Hi Tania, nice to see you here - I think you'll enjoy it, plus there's the US Tomato Forum where some of us like to hang out as well

Your seeds were posted Friday so they should arrive Monday. Please do soak them overnight and sow shallow for best results. They are seeds I purchased from Sand Hill Preservation in the US, and with soaking I'm getting around 75% germination.

Out of your list I have seeds for the following if you'd like some...

Cherokee Chocolate
Silver Fir Tree
Black Brandywine
Brandywine (Sudduth) - pink
Chadwick Cherry
Purple Smudge
Yugoslav

I'm growing Aker's West Virginia this year so will have seeds for that one later.

Most of them I have never heard of, so, I reckon grow all of them and report back later (joking).
Of them I have grown
College Challenger - good reliable round red
Nor de Crim, I think is Black Krim - yummy black tommy
Akers West Virginia - late prolific tasty red
Persimon - tasty yellow, will probably grow again.

Cherokee Chocolate heirloom (a genetic variation of an old heirloom)
Carbon Heirloom Tomato Seeds

Silver Fir Tree Heirloom Tomato (should be Silvery Fir Tree)
Speckled Roman Seeds OP (also called Striped Roman - bred by a Swedish American)
Black Brandywine Heirloom Tomato Seeds
Pink Brandy Wine (Sudith) Heirloom - properly called Brandywine (Sudduth Strain), after Doris Sudduth Hill
Akers West Virginia heirloom tomato
Arkansas Traveler Heirloom Tomato Seeds
Chadwick Cherry Heirloom Tomato Seeds (I have Camp Joy which is said to be the same tomato)

Just email me if you're interested.

Hi Tania, Glad to have you on board. It really is an obsession. Have you thought of potatoes as well?. Almost as interesting as tommies. And most areas can grow them all year!!.
