Tomato Fest 2006 - Vote here

| Okay, as suggested, I think it might be a good idea to get a vote on venue and dates. Please vote for both venue and dates.
Marysville (free accommodation): available Mar 4 & 5, Apr 1 & 2 and Apr 8 & 9. (I guess paople might possibly either want Friday and Saturday night or just Saturday night. Not sure about this.)
Avoca in the Pyrenees wine region (accommodation up to you): I'd suggest the same dates to avoid the school holidays and various long weekends.
Yarra Valley (see Avoca): Where in the Yarra Valley?
My vote is
Marysville - any date |

Marysville or Yarra Valley, not fussed. Not fussy about date either - can you explain the accommodation. We probably won't need it but its nice to know. Will go with the flow. Linda (and Bob) |

Avoca late Feb. March and April, anywhere, are out for me. Marysville is hard as I don't drive except locally. |

| Obviously Marysville Ray. |

Marysville, March 3-5, sounds good to me at the moment. I'm just hoping there'll be a car pool or something, if I'm flying over. |

| Spatz, if you fly to Melbourne, you may be able to take your tommies. When I checked with AQIS last year, they asked if I would be flying to a capital city and said it would have been OK. The problem was only driving via FFEZ to my destination (which I didn't exactly mention because I knew it was just inside the FFEZ). Anyhow, it's worth checking out - some of your beauties would be great at the taste testing! PP |

Okay, seems like it's overwhelmingly Marysville over the first weekend in March (sorry Penny). I'm looking forward to it already! |

Raymondo, no need to apologise. 1st week in March, still don't think I can make that. If not, perhaps Mantis would call by as he passes, and I'll contribute some varieties. Mantis, thanks for the offer of a lift, can I let you know much closer to the time? Penny. |

Hello Raymondo. Sorry about the delay in getting back to you with a reply. Out of the loop again as usual. Marysville sounds great! I can pick up a few people to take if need be. Will be brilliant this year and early March will provide a better selection to sample. Cheers Craig |

| argh. No internet connection for 2 weeks... felt like I'd lost an arm! Marysville is good for us as well. Depending on accomodation (if we need to camp or not) we may be able to take 2 passengers and we live near the airport, unless George (Lips) wants to take his telescope to take advantage of dark skies up there (I'm assuming the light pollution from the city is shielded), in which case we might only be able to take one. We can be flexible on that one. Will check about the telescope... if he brings it we can have a little star party at night :-) |

| The night sky at Marysville is SENSATIONAL!!! (if it's not raining!!!) |

| I'm coming after all, and I like the idea of a star party - count me in! PP |

| Could we confirm the date? I'd like to book flights as soon as possible. Might even use up some frequent flyer points. Or at least get cheap flights. Is it 3-5 March 2006 (Friday to Sunday) or 4-5 (Saturday to Sunday)? |
RE: Tomato Fest 2006 - Vote here

| I've booked flights for the 4th and 5th March, as per Ray's post above! PP |

Main event I'm thinking should be Saturday afternoon, from lunchtime onwards. Then people can do whatever they fancy the rest of the time. For those interested, there are other times to meet up for dinners (I think there's a restaurant in Marysville) or whatever. This is only a suggestion. Feel free to chime in. I do think however that it would be best Sat/Sun, rather than Fri/Sat. Some, the unfortunate ones, have to work. But your arrival/departure dates are up to you, as long as accommodation works. The other thing to work out is getting people from Melb airport to Marysville and back again. |

Hello again Ray! I could probably act as a chaffeur for a number of people if you like. No problem for me. Yes, Sat/Sun would be better all round. Cheers Craig |

| Thanks Craig. The offer of chauffeur is greatly appreciated. I know Patrina is flying in, as is Andrea. In case they don't see your post, I'll email them and let them know. |

Greetings Ray! Barring anything unforseen, I'll be attending. Going on last years results, I probably wont have any tommies for tasting but will bring seeds to trade/share. It's a fair drive for me, so I'd be interested in accomodation for the Fri, Sat and possibly Sun night. More info on the accomodation would be appreciated to help planning. Mark |

Hi Mark, Glad to hear you'll be there. As you probably read in this or related threads, a generous GWebber has offered some free accom. It consists of 2 holiday cottages which between them sleep 20, which includes mattresses on floors etc. First preference will be given to interstaters for these. Info on this will be posted soon so keep a look out. Apart from this, there are other places available, though not free of course. Other holiday cottages, no doubt B&B's and so on. The link below pretty much covers what else is available. Actaully, I'll start another thread for this. |

| OK, spoke to George and he says that it may not be worth bringing up the telescope for one night (it's huge and we'd need to bring our trailer!) but he may have his new smaller one by then, so we'll work that out closer to the time. Looking forward to meeing y'all :-) |
RE: Tomato Fest 2006 - Vote here

| Obviously a bit late to vote but I hope very much to be there and will probably bring a friend to share the driving instead of tomatoes, which will be in very short supply!!! |
