| They had a mini article on " Grow your own tomatoes , they taste wonderful" or something like that. Then they went on.
Grow this one, Its called Mr Ugly. As well as tasting really good, the kids will love it because it has all these pokey outey bits.
Is this what gardening shows have come to. I thought when Don whathisface vanished we would get back to normal. Nadda.
Why cant they not just explain that there are many (thousands would scare people) varieties of tomatoes in various shapes, colours and sizes and they are mostly wonderful. AND, here is where you can source the seeds.
Sigh

Never been a fan of that show. Still like Pete Cundall though. I like anyone who's enthusiastic about things, except of course if it's enthusiasm for putting people in gas chambers. Don't like that sort of enthusiasm much. There's a local guy who's dedicated to and very enthusiastic about biodynamics. While I don't find biodynamics particularly attractive (it's not locally sustainable unless you happen to live in northern Europe), I admire his enthusiasm for something he believes in. |

They should come to do a feature on my place. It could be called"the Most Apalling Person Ever On the Show". I'm sure I could find a suitably Obscene fruit to display. I could just swear a lot, and attempt to hump his leg. Sorry......not a fan. I can't bear watching someone put thosands of dollars into a garden and make it look worse!!. I 'spose that takes skill in a way. |

| Couldn't agree more, Curtains have no place in a back yard (Ground force isn't much better). Give me Gardening Australia any day!!! I am always astonished at the," look at this tree or that shrub attitude (usually looks very nice) thats gotta go". They dig up trees and grass for the sake of it and put in some decking in the middle of nowhere or some abstract meaningless artform made out of recycled bottle caps:) I would love to see the show where someone comes home and says "What the @#*% have you done, then grab GR by the shirt front and breathe down his kneck "and where's my lemon tree" :) |

| I did see one where the guy was really upset with what they had done. The cameras didnt focus on him for long. I find it sad that many people think that these people are style gurus and want to copy the same garden design Helen |

Thank goodness I dont watch much TV anymore about 4 hours a week is my max. And ABC Gardening Australia is slotted in during those hours, who needs that kind of garbage. MM. |

LOL Wicky. That would make for some watchable TV. I too have often thought they have made a garden that the person obviously doesnt want. If I ever came home to find them in my yard, they would have sore butts by the time they reached the front gate :-) |
RE: Did anyone watch Better Homes and Gardens tonight

| If that ever happened to me, I'd turn to the person/s that invited them in the first place and ask what I'd done to them that they hate me so much. All I need is a team of volunteers to weed and brushcut and mulch and mow and weed and mulch and weed and mow and mulch...uh..I think I said that. :) |

| At least the ladies on the show (GF) have unspecified talents:). Probably be better off as "Crusty chicks" than touring with GR. |

Have you hit a chord or what Mantis?. If I see one more Pinus Excretus stuck in the ground , I'll blow up. I saw them once do a veggie garden, it took up about 2 per cent of the garden. The rest was bloody decking, and bloody star Jasmine, and bloody pencil pines. Should be a law. And then they invite all these neighbours, most of them just learning to use cutlery, to leer and clap. It really is beyond the pail. *waving brolly*. |
RE: Did anyone watch Better Homes and Gardens tonight
| | |
| And then they have to rip it all up and do it all over again in a year or two because it's gone out of fashion..... |
RE: Did anyone watch Better Homes and Gardens tonight

| Waving brolly, LOL, I like that |
RE: Did anyone watch Better Homes and Gardens tonight

| Most of them just learning to use cutlery LOL . An image comes to mind of the moron neigbours, sitting around some road kill in the middle of the street, argueing about which knife to use :-) |
RE: Did anyone watch Better Homes and Gardens tonight
| | |
| Don't forget all the coulourful pillows on the decking, some with teeth marks in them. |

And those winged sails, and the Bloody Pergola. And the bloody sunken Entertainment area with the bloody colourful cushions. And the Bar B Que, that can cook for seventy three people. And then we go inside with Monica or somesuch, and we have some adenoidal dropkick with four hundred and seventy teeth, all of which gleam simultaneously, telling us that the recipe this week will take about a kilo of latvian caviar, but it's worth every cent. And if ya did sell ya house to buy the crap, it would probably taste like the back end of which ever sea life it was extracted from, only left in the sun for two weeks, and then dragged through a hedge. And then comes the bloody GARNISH!! And then ya have the NEVER WAS TRYING HARD TO BE A HAS BEEN decorator saying stuff like "Nothing says Welcome like a dead cow nailed to the door",and "the story for interiors this week is all about HAMMERS". And then ya get the resident butcher of art in to paint an off centre non geometric hammer in Pebble Mix and Pasta on a board measuring two metres by two metres. And then they whack it on the wall, and wait for the poor mongrel to come home so they can sew their face into a grateful smile. And then they have the gall to say if you want your house to look like this, and you can stop vomiting in disgust long enough, then "check out" our website. Sorry. |

HEY:), What about when they take the solid timber kitchen cupboards and give them a nice COAT OF PAINT, "There that's brightened up those dreary looking cupboards for only $50"......Which some poor soul probably paid 20 grand to have in SOLID TIMBER. Look on the bright side, when you walk through the freshly painted house which looks like a set from the Wiggles and go "JESUS", you will want to spend more time in the garden trimming the grass from between the paver squares. Nothing says CLASH like a BH&G make over. That must be the idea of the cushions outside. Who could wake up to that with a hangover? :) |

Those poor people, they probably have the best intentions. I like wood too, especially in the kitchen, where I spend a lot of time. It's a hobby for them anyway. And it keeps them off the thought of coming to my place. I think I'd hire a sniper. |

| Dr. Harry rocks though!!!, Go Harry:). He's the only one in the show with any genuine talent. He'll have to go:), just like JJ who they replaced with a goon in a rail car:) |

| In our family, it's not Better Homes and Gardens, it's just Better Homes Than Ours. Frankly, no body could LIVE in some of the houses they show, at least normal people like us. A couple of weeks ago, Johanna Griggs and her architect clown did a showcase of the most stylish houses in Australia. The one that won a prestigious architecture award was horrendous. Lots of exposed concrete, concrete walls, concrete floors and lots of big big big windows with no curtains or blinds. And after the architecture showcase came new hi-tech gadgets, like LCD windows that instantly frost at the touch of a button. I'm finding more and more than I'm watching the show just for the wine guy and Jason Hodge's plant diary. But then that's just 10 minutes out of an hour. What about the other 50 minutes???? |
RE: Did anyone watch Better Homes and Gardens tonight

| I tuned in especially to see it, it was pretty average. At one point he was holding a tomato by the stem explaining how it can go into the ground deeper than was in the pot, yet he didn't seem to plant it deeper eheh. What bugs me about a lot of these shows is they're often just pushing product. Garden Gurus seemed most obvious for that, I've had good crops without buying chemicals, I'm not totally against them, just I can't be bothered, they can be toxic, require special preparation and expense. |

So what night is it on? It's so long since I saw it last I can't remember, but I think I'll have to watch it just so I can think of all you guys gnashing your teeth & Adam waving his brolly!!! |

| I just cant watch it anymore, it's a big infomercial these days, and that tech guy pushing all the "must have" overpriced techno gimmicks is the worst. I saw renovation rescue the other week and shock horror, they actually did a place up (albeit with brand new furniture thrown in) but they didnt just rip everything down and throw it out (I usually watch these shows saying "OMG, look what they just threw in the bin!", it's the sort of stuff I usually buy and fix up, lol |
RE: Did anyone watch Better Homes and Gardens tonight

I must admit, I haven't watched it in a long time. My house mate HATES television, so I've learned to be a little more discerning. Time was when I would watch it about 10 hours a day. It's amazing how much I achieve with it locked away. Sounds a bit preachy, but to each their own. At one point i had three teevs, One in each room of my little flat. |

| Just watched "Judge John Deed" for the second time. I love this show. Its a pity our local judges don't have the common sense of these TV judges. |
