Pink Banana Pumpkin

I've germinated some of these from Eden Seeds but have no cultivation notes. I assume they get the same treatment as yellow pumkins but wonder how big they might grow and why they are called that!

Raining cats and dogs - all systems halt.

RE: Pink Banana Pumpkin

I grew a Banana Pumpkin last season (not from Eden Seeds). It was about 25-30cm long and quite heavy. Diameter was about 7-8cm (if I remember correctly). Very nice. Extremely hard skin as far as I remember. Not bent like a banana. Just longish.

Hope they do well for you. Let us know at the end of the season how they went and what they tasted like.

Have fun!

(Bucketing down here as well. Good stuff.)

The name I presume is because of rind colour and fruit shape, though it's not bent like a banana!

PS How's the hot house going Linda?

RE: Pink Banana Pumpkin

I'm looking forward to long pink things cavorting in my garden beds! I've germinated 5 seeds to be on the safe side - don;t want them competing for space with Attilla the Snail! Hothouse progress has been a bit stop-start because the weather regressed to winter winds and rain and we've had only rare occasions to get out and do something. With Bob's bad-back and my gardeners elbow it is a painful learning curve - like we learned never to do it again! But we'll do the whole thing for about $400 tops which is a lot better than the quote of $1500 for the tunnel and we'd still have had to floor it. So as soon as the weather improves we'll get its plastic cladding on - the door and windows are made and one good day should see it finished. Then to tackle the gravel paths around it and take my tomatoes etc in to it to continue their growing. Here's a few reduced size pics of progress to date.....L
