lemon trouble

i have a lemon which is in its third year in the ground (clay soil). it has started bearing huge lemons and flowers prolifically but sheds many of its leaves (after they turn yellow) especially in the colder months. it is of the 'eureka' variety. i feed it with large amounts of compost and mixed manures, and have even tried citrus foods (prefer to not use chemicals). i see some other trees in the area with the same problem. should i be worried?

RE: lemon trouble

Hi rootball. Hope This helps. Cheers..MM.

< Why are my leaves going yellow?
Leaves of citrus trees can often go yellow in winter (winter yellows). The exact reasons for this are not known, but the leaves return to normal colour in the spring.· Is the tree too dry or too wet? Scratching into the ground around the tree may reveal if this is the case.· Has the tree been over fertilised? Too heavy an application of fertiliser, or fertiliser directly onto the tree roots can cause fertiliser burn and subsequent leaf drop.>
