Overwintered Capsicums

| Hi all and long time no see :-) Things have been v quiet in the garden and v busy at work. Consequently we never got around to pulling out the capsicums :-) We have about 10 plants, California Wonder & Chinese Giant. They've continued to fruit, something started eating them at some point so they all had holes in them and I've just picked three nice red ones for our pizza tonight.
So, now we're thinking maybe we'll keep some of these plants and I'm sure I've seen messages about people keeping tommies & caps alive over winter. What shoudl we do? Will we get a decent crop from the old bushes? Should I prune them - I assume so.
Very grateful for all tips, including, if we shouldn't waste our time :-)
Will post over at Ausgarden too |

| Capsicums and chillis are perenials, we just treat them like annuals to get a "better" crop. I overwintered some capsicum in WA and they produced fine next year. They were early than the others. I overwinter some of my chillis here in Hobart my Cayenne pepper is now 5 years old and still producing. Just prune and give them some fertilizer Helen |

| I've got some that are nearly two years old. The possums eat all the leaves when they get hungry, and the fruit gets smaller each year. I was just too lazy to plant more. If you've plenty of land you might as well leave them in and plant more elsewhere. |
