I purchased a multi grafted fruit tree at the Melbourne Flower show 2005. I have a Blood plum, an apricot and 1 yellow and 1 white peach.
I started to follow the spraying regime Sulpher after leaf fall, and than at bud swell with copper spray. Half way between my sulpher spraying the tree decided to burst into bud! and start flowering!!. Can anyone please help? Should I just go on to the copper spraying regime. I have no experience with fruit trees this is the first time ever.
Thanks in advance any help is much appreciated.

Hi April
It is highly unusual that they would have budded now in Melbourne as it is still too cold. I would stop spraying as the coppers might burn the new growth. Also since it has budded it will need protection from the frost. Do you have any ideas about why it broke dormancy? Is it in a courtyard which gets hot?...I suppose stranger things have happened.

RE: Multi Grafted Fruit Tree

Hi Pepino, thank you for answering my query. My fruit tree is under cover but it still gets the cold weather we are experiencing in Melbourne. It gets some morning sun ( when we get it). My covered area is 70sq meters with an opening of 10meters, so as you see there is a lot of room for good ventilation and no additional heat. I have no idea why it broke dormancy. Two weeks ago I also picked a beautifull bunch of roses as I was pruning, now that too is rather unusual.I am also picking the odd cherry tomatoe from a plant that is growing with the lavender!!!
