I still have eggplants growing. Theere are a couple of fruit and still a few flowers.
Am I a fool to leave the plant in and hope that it will get more fruit? Or is it over now autumn has finally arrived... |

| You can always try! No harm done. :) We woke up to a very very frosty morning. Brrr... Everything is white up here. Haven't dared check the garden yet. I've got 3 bushy and healthy eggplant plants out there. But my guess is that it's over now. Soo...if you don't get frost, why not try to overwinter it and see how it goes? Good luck. |

I picked eggplants a couple of days ago & we've had a few light frosts here already. So as Spatz says you might as well leave them & see what happens. They may possibly be bitter if they ripen slowly in cold weather but that's just a guess. The other alternative would be to cut off fruit & flowers so the plant doesn't expend energy & will be able to over winter. It depends where you are really. Advice needed from inner city gardeners I think! |
