| Hubby bought home a punnet of First Prize tomatoes, we have never grown them before. No size or height on the label it only read plant 45cms apart.
He wanted to know what size stakes to put in and asked me how big they grow ???? fancy asking me what size a tomato grows I know more about radish, spring onion, snow peas, bougainvillea and hibiscus, I dont eat tomatoes, so I did a bit of Googling.
One website read they are a F1 Hybrid grow to a 1/2mt bush with fruits 2-4cms wide thats a vey small one then another stated they are a red beefsteak 453 gms WOW now that is big one.
Please which one is right ??????? .....MM |

Is there a number for the nursery that grew them? Call them & give them heaps!!!!
Or chuck them on the compost & send out a plea for seeds for REAL tomatoes!!! :-)) |

I have sent them a e-mail Thanks, seeing their website page for seedings is under construction.
I have plenty of REAL tomatoe seeds which I will plant soon all given to me by my GW friends.
Just too busy at present getting ready for my big order of Roses, so the tommys seeds will have to wait

| Just got this E-Mail answer back, I may toss them as they are a dwarf variety...MM Thank you for your enquiry.
There is a very good reason why we do not put the height of this tomato on our tickets as it depends very much on how it is grown. It is a naturally dwarf tomato that is often grown in pots in a sunny position. If grown well I have seen plants grow in excess of 2m but normally 1m is the norm. The fruit size is medium and they do not normally spread more than 45cm especially if lateral growth (sideshoots) are removed to form a single stem and focus the plants energies on fruit set and development rather than foliage/shoot growth.

So it may be small, unless it's not?. I'm surprised they didn't say that "medium" is a relative term! ! ! ! !
