Ideas for a plant...please
| | |
Posted by popi NSW Aust (My Page) on Tue, May 23, 06 at 22:39
| I have a spot in my vege patch that is at the bottom of a swale, so it collects water and is nice and moist, full sun, as well, north facing.
I would like to put a food plant that would appreciate this moisture, something like a paw paw.
I would appreciate some other ideas from you knowledgeable people.
I am just north of Sydney, so not too cold here.
Thanks

| if you plant on top of the swale - any of the citrus will enjoy the nearby moisture or have a look at pecans (needs male and female) most fruit trees will appreciate the ready access to water but may need to be planted on top of the swale are you too cold for bananas? lemon grass could be planted in the wet part of the swale or any of the mints coastal mangosteen, american chestnut, just some thoughts |

| In the wet part, you could also grow Taro, Kangkung aka Water Convolvulus (Ipomea aquatica), Arrowhead (Sagittaria sp.), upland cress, water cress or some herbs like mints or some of the Vietnamese herbs such as Oenanthe, Limnophila or Houttonya. |
