Will plastic buckets protect from -1 to -2 frosts

Hi there,

I am getting ready for spring in the veggie patch and was wondering if plastic buckets will protect my tomatoes and zucchini etc from frost. We get -1 to 02 frosts. I need something quick and easy to apply.

Regards Darren

Probably, but neither will really grow much until after the frosts pass.. Still, the tommies will do Ok so long as the leaves dont actually freeze.. The zuccs will just wait for warmer weather before doing anything.

Yes,
go for it. there are other possibilities, but your idea is cheap and sensible and a good size. Now that frosts are not so common, you will only need them on an occasional night, when the air is still and the sky clear. Don't mulch your soil at that stage - let it absorb the heat of the sun during the day and radiate it back into the bucket at night.
