Ray does Italy

Ciao tutti! As Ray reported elsewhere, he's been here with us in Tuscany getting into mischief. And here's the proof.

Here he is, with someone who might pass for finbar, in what passes for a main street in the tiny town of Castiglion Fiorentino:

Now, for those of you with long memories, I kept myself busy over winter building a new vegie garden out at our friends' olive farm. I finally finished it:

And here's Ray planting some melons in the new garden:

And still at it:

Oh, and here's a crop of broad beans and a crop of peas in the new garden. First crops at the back, second crops closer to camera:

Later, Ray attended to the starting of pumpkin and squash seeds in the Italian version of jiffy pots:

Later in the week, we thought Ray was enjoying himself too much. Much too much. So we took him to a Sunday lunch with some expats living locally. Where he was earbashed for more hours than he cares to remember:

Tomorrow he heads off to France. He's threatening to return before he heads back to Australia. We're lining up the earbasher in case he does.

Lunch?! That looks more like a drinking session!

Great veggie patch! Can't wait to see it throughout the season. Hope it'll be a great one for you! :)

Food was great. Some of the earbashers weren't. As Ray will attest.

Corn in the new garden:

Extra toms, the overflow from the other garden:

And, for Ray's last night with us, he bought a delish cake for dessert from the local pasticceria. He wasn't keen to share:

Not that mrs finbar wanted any anyway:

How wicked of you to force Ray to work in your garden?! I wouldn't have shared my cake with you either, mwuhahahaaa

BTW, don't get sick of showing off your veggie patches and village any time soon - I'm still planning to drop in ;-)

Oh, thank you for sharing this with us. I must say I missed news from the North. I hope you will keep us updated with the summer garden news.

Cheers.

From the look of it I let Ray enjoy himself too much when he came to stay with me, all he had to do here was build a chook pen!
I wish I had the dosh for a trip to Europe, I'd happily listen to the earbasher for hours if you put that many bottles in front of me!
