Patrina's MLPS x Unknown

Thought I’d report here about Patrina’s MLPS X unknown heart. The posts are scrolling off the Tomato forum in 9 days. Maybe this will still be here when she returns.

For those that don’t remember, Patrina grew Craig’s Mortgage Lifter Pesta Strain last season and it produced heart shaped fruit.

She sent F2 seeds to several people. I’m growing 4 plants, two have yet to set fruit. One of the others has little globes, and the second has little chili shaped tomatoes. If Patrina can stabilize it, and likes the taste, maybe she’ll call it Patrina Pepperina. ;-)

I'll add more pictures when the others set fruit.

Hehe, a tomato called Patrina Pepperina... now there's an idea Bruce!

Below is a pic of the later shapes I typically got from the parent tomato (ie. the F1 hybrid) which tasted absolutely delicious. Now it remains to be seen whether the flavour is attached to a heterozygous state found in the F1 generation, or whether it will show up again once the genes become homozygous through self-pollination over the next few generations.

Thanks for the update Bruce!
