Gramma Charma

Anyone got any info on gramma charmas. I had 2 trees that produced an abundant supply of delicious fruit, until I had to have one removed to put in a path. It was the larger of the 2 and had the sweetest and largest fruit, alas. The smaller tree also stopped producing. It has now been 3 years it flowers prolifically and we'd be lucky if we get 10 fruit in a season! At first I thought it was the bees but they definately visit. Then I thought it might be birds eating the flowers can't find any evidence to support this. But the flowers seem to disappear without fertilising ie. none on the ground. Do possums eat their flowers? I'm told they don't need to crosspolinate is this so? Or as one plant seller told me do they 'slow down' at a certain age? Mine would have to be 7-10yrs old.
It just seems so strange to go from a massive harvest one season to zero the next.

Sorry misspelt it, must have gramma pumpkins for brains! Grumichama (Eugenia dombeyi) might produce more info. At the moment I'm working on the 'that's what happens in the worst drought in a hundred years' scenario. Trying to mulch heavily, apparently they have a shallow root system. Cheers

I do have one but I've had less success than you-like about 2 fruit in 8 years--they definately do have a shallow root system and mine is in shade. I did a search re cultivation and noted its needs were water, good soil fertility (acidic rather than alkaline) and to encourage fruiting, to feed it low Nitrogen and higher Potassium. My poor thing is looking very dejected due to my inability to water it properly. I have a lot of possums and I do suspect that they may demolish the flowers? Regards
