now that the ripening process is slowing down what do folk do with the vines that still have a load of green tomatoes on them. Pick the green tomatoes and store stem down or hang the whole vine up in the shed. And when is the best time, now while there are still flowers on the vines or when the frosts start? Or just make green tomato chutny and be done with it.

I have a couple hanging in the shed. Don't know if I will get a lot of good fruit off them as some are shrivelling up. But if they colour a bit I will save some seeds.

I hung the tomato plants last year, they did shrivel up and were pretty tasteless. So this year I went for green tomato chutney instead helen

I had a thought when out in the shed after posting above. I looked at the roots of the hanging plants and thought I wonder if they would still take up moisture. So I sprayed the roots with water and repeated it every day since. The shriveling tomatoes filled out again and I am picking lots of ripening little tomatoes.
