| I have never grown Broccoli before, they look like they are starting to come to head, but I now have flowers forming, is that normal, or are they planted too early? we are still getting high temps and humidity up this way.

| They are past it when they actually flower, unless it's the Chinese variety. |

Karn. Broccoli should be planted between Feb and May in Queensland as they are supposed to take about six months to mature, bit to warm any other time. Sorry but I would say you have planted them a tad too early, maybe a stir fry coming up....MM |

If they're bolting, and it sounds like they are, let them go and save the seed. Only keep plants of just one variety as they cross-pollinate very easily. Do not keep just one plant as Broccoli does not like to inbreed. After flowering, they will form small, slender pods. Wait till these start to dry out then pick and hang upside down in a paper bag until thoroughly dry. Scrunch the bag in your hands to dislogde the seeds. If the seeds are thoroughly dry, they can store for quite some time, especially in the fridge in a well sealed container. Sow some more now if you have more seed. Sow some every three weeks or so for a while. Broccoli is definitely a cool weather veggie. |

Guess who just got back from a seed saving course! When do we get a report Ray? Karn, I'd take the stir fry option, you may find that you'll get more shoots forming & although they won't form nice heads they should give you something worth eating. |

| Thank you for your advice everyone, stir fry sounds like a good option, I think I will try planting again soon, see if I can make a success of it this time. |
