Growing Vegetables

Growing vegetables can be fulfilling and saves you loads of money too " if you enjoy a good harvest that is. Of course, if you are a first time gardener, it can be rather tricky to get the right formula for maximum yield. Start easy with vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce and herbs like basil and rosemary. If youâÂÂre planning to grow from seeds, make sure you have a storage of seeds kept in a dry and cool environment as seeds go bad easily in the presence of moisture and heat.

Once seeds are planted, ensure sufficient amounts of water but be aware of excess amounts as that could kill your seeds and seedlings. If you experience heavy rainfall, a simple shelter to draw the rain away could be useful. Each vegetable has their unique requirements for maximum growth so do ask a professional gardener or the instructions on the seed packet.

Be prepared that your first batch of vegetables may not taste like how you are used to or envisioned. ItâÂÂs okay. Most vegetables at the market has gone through many trials before that got the formula right so again, ask around. The harvesting of vegetables is of course what many home farmers look forward to. Be sure you are storing your vegetables the right way. Store vegetable leaves loosely and never store fruits and vegetable together as fruits ripen vegetables very fast and cause them to rot.
