| This 10 kilo (!!) baby was harvested today. Taste test: very very juicy and refreshing. This was the only one on the vine. Next year I'll try Sweet Siberian as it's a lot smaller in size and very sweet. And more melons per vine.
What's your favourite watermelon?
A big thank you to the gardenwebber who sent me those seeds. You know who you are! I still owe you seeds in return. :)
Ah yes, there are plenty of seeds, once they are dry, so if you are keen, let me know. |

Great looking melon Spatz! Sugar Baby and Blacktail Montain did reasonably well here. Not very big, but good and sweet. I'm keen to try Golden Midget and a yellow-fleshed one next season. |

| Spatz It looks great. I'm jealous because I cant grow them here without a greenhouse. Yes I have heard that sweet siberian is good and blacktail mountain is good for cool, shorter summers. yum Helen |

| Helen, I can send you some Sweet Siberian seeds, if you like. Maybe they'll work for you. I haven't grown it myself yet, but liked the look of it in one of my gardening friends' garden. It's smallish, has apricot-coloured flesh and is very sweet and juicy. It'll definitely be in my garden next year. Mistymorn, I never have watermelons self-seed in my garden. This was the first year I'm growing it. It's true, self-sown stuff just is the best. :) |
