One planted late 04. When, how to prune? Will this delay fruiting in 05? Will it fruit in 05? Do I need more plants to get fruit anyway? All info greatly appreciated. Regards. pict01.

hello pict01

I have one plant. It didnt fruit the first year I had it. I read that you prune the branches that do not bear fruit, so wait until the plant has fruited. You dont need a pollinator. Cuttings take really easily. Just treat it like a black current.

Hello Pict01,
I've never heard of anyone having success with Jostaberries, has anyone out there had any luck with them?

There is a bit of information re the Jostaberry in this month's (May '05) Gardening Australia. I would write some of the bits down here for you but magazine has been lent out to a neighbour.

Jostaberry requires a colder climate than Melbourne to produce reliably. You need to be in the hills to the north or west. Really, it's a choice between lemon trees and the currant family.

Colder climate? Hills? Hmm... just did a search on jostaberry and it sounds delicious. Where did you folks get your plants from?
