I'm writing on behalf of my sister-in-law. She wants to know how to stop the cockatoos from eating her corn cobs!
Thanks

RE: Corn cobs and birds

is there some way she dissuade the birds from visiting her yard? guess she lives in the 'burb's. if she lives in rural and in cocky country then she may have to grow her corn in a cage. just that i used to feed them along with other birds but found they are the worst of vandals in a garden pulled orchids out of trees dug up the lawn looking for left over seed. tip pruned all the neighbours gum trees (he wasn't happy).

so when they came i would use the jet nozzle on the hose and chase them they soon learnt not to come back, just means you can't do any feeding until they are gone. best lesson for them and karellas don't attract them.

we have/had a problem here with king parrots very pretty bird and like human company, but i trained the dogs to listen for their whistle and go chase them works fine, the birds don't realise the dogs can't get them and the dogs have no hope of catching them, and the birds live happily on in the bush or wherever.
