I have had this tree for at least 5-6 years and never had fruit till now. I have 6 on 2 very low branches and might have had them before but not seen them as they are so low.I have some groundcovers below and they might have hidden the fruit. My question is, can or should I cut those low branches and will they then have fruit on the higher branches?
Thank you mistymorn, that was helpfull, fruit forms on current year growth so it should be safe to cut those low branches. The site answered another question I had: when to pick the fruit, I thought you had to leave it on the tree till soft but you can pick it when coloured and firm.
Yes it is a very helpful site Dutchie. It tells you about everything you need to know about growing all kinds of plants in Qld. I consult it often....Cheers...MM.
Hi, I also had trouble and was told to feed them up big and water lots with tomato food or in fact just potash...I foliar fed every week even without leaves so get into it now before they drop..now I do it every month potash and seaweed I also prune mainly to a good shape and most of the branches are cut back in late winter...The trees now are VERY bountiful and really good looking. However once you have fruit on a non astringent type then the battle with birds and possums!!!! have fun
