 o
non fruiting fig?

Posted by blackolive WA (My Page) on

I have a fig, very healthy, now maybe 3 years old, 2m high that I found as a tiny sapling in my garden.I assume I bought it in as a fragment in some mulch, and it grew from there. It is growing fabulously, but has never had fruit. I am wondering now if I have somehow created a fruitless fig? Is there figs that don't fruit? Any suggestions appreciated, otherwise I will rip it out! It gets all the fertilizer etc, and every other fruit tree I have (and I have lots) are producing abundantly.

RE: non fruiting fig?

I have one in a pot that is as old or older and has never fruited. It is the same size and should bear fruit. Nursery lost the tag so I don't know what kind it is. I was told it would fruit. I plan on planting it in good soil this year, fertilize it, and I assume it will grow faster and fruit. I planted one in the shade in the past, and it never fruited. Is your in the sun - or gets a lot of daily sun? Regards Jim McNulty
