Strawberries in sun or shade?

I have bought a punnet of strawberry plants.
As far as I know, they normally should be planted in sun, but here in Brisbane plants often thrive better in shade. Does this apply to strawberres?

i've always grown mine in full sun, might be needed to help control fungal issues?
