I really don't know what is happening to my Rockmelons, I have been trying to keep them on the vine like everyone says, but the are falling off themselves before they are completely ripe, also some of them are like they have been put into a cool room, all soft and squishy, some of them have maggots coming out of them, and going mildew, is it due to the dry weather we have had? and then all the rain we recieved a couple of weeks ago and the high humidity? I opened one up that didn't look too bad last night it was a beautiful colour inside, squishy in the green part, it was very sweet and juicy though, that would be about the only one that I have been able to eat.

could be MM,there was only one with the maggots, the others just seem to be going squashy, anyway I got rid of them just in case it was fruit fly, struth I haven't had any fruit fly in my fruit, I would really hate that to be the case.

That's what happened to mine last year, Karnyah. They looked really good, but when I checked the bottom for ripeness, they fell apart in my hands, like orange soup. It was due to a very hot dry summer, little watering and then a deluge which just freaked them out. I was told they rely on regular watering. constant amounts of water, not necessarily a lot, but the same amount all through their growing. Humidity doesn't seem to affect them. It was really frustrating to find one after the other just going to slush. I got half of one to eat, and it was tasteless. My garden just can't do melons. Can't wait to move to MelonLand.
