Little tomatoes

| Hi everyone,
I was hoping for some feedback on the little salad tomatoes.
I grew some this year and had (or have) a bumper crop but I'm a little dissapointed with the flavour. I don't think they are any better (well not much, anyway) than the store bought ones. The only advantage is that they are fresher and organically grown.
What I need is you experts to tell me which ones to grow next year! Flavoursome and sweet is what I want. By the way, I don't know what the name of the ones I grew this year are...they were freebies from a friend of a friend.
"Knowledge is knowing tomato is a fruit, Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad."
Cheers,
Dee. |

Hi Dee If you are looking for flavoursome and sweet you couldn't go past Momotaro. Its a Japanese hybrid that pumps out golf ball or bigger size round pink fruit that is sweet and with a lingering tomato aftertaste. Really good. I will be growing themn again next spring for sure. If you email me with your address I will see if I have a few seeds spare. Cheers Mantis |

| I really like Black Cherry. Santorini is pretty nice too. Wild Tomato is tiny but with big flavour. Broad Ripple Yellow Currant is really tasty too. |

| Thanks for the info both of you. Mantis, thanks for the offer. I've never grown tomatoes from seed before. I've had them grow themselves from seed, so I'm assuming it's not rocket science! I will email you my address. I am more than happy to pay postage of course. I hope this isn't a devious way of luring people into the 'tomato cult'!! LOL. Cheers, Dee. |

Hi Dee, I think in your neck of the woods that Kimberly would do really well. It's prolific, great in a 25ltr pot, produces early and then all through the summer. It's a must-grow for me. I have seeds if you wanna email me. Cheers. Grub. |

| Thanks Grub. I might give it a miss this time round, because I haven't got a lot of space. Ozmantis is kindly sending me some seeds of Momotaro and I have decided (after a taste test...yum) to grow some little grape tomatoes as well. I do really appreciate the offer though. Cheers, Dee. |

| Broad Ripple Yellow Current grew like weeds here this year for us. So much so that I have to give them away... there are way too many. Will grow them again next year, but in a pot so there's no glut :-) |
