Don't know if the picture does it justice, but this Mortgage Lifter Estlers is the reddest thing I have ever seen after cutting it today for lunch. I thought it was going to start bleeding LOL

Update from today:

Three of the pinkest tomatoes I've ever seen. Two big Olena Ukrainians and a fat Soldacki at the back.

Two of the heartiest hearts I've ever seen. Wes. And red :)

A plate of nice colours: Grub's Mystery Green back, some (orange) Jaune Flamees, a lone Jaune Negib and two of PP's chillies. HOT!!!

And finally a lousy pic of two of the greenest with envy greens you will ever hope to see ;) Grub's Mystery Greens, off the RL plant, both exaclty 10oz. PL fruit not far behind.

Stay tuned for some sliced pics of this vibrant, tasty green and other new specimens ;)

Looking real good Grub. Are those Olena Ukranians as prolific as Soldacki?? And do they taste as good??

RE: Reddest tommy I have ever seen.

Hi Manto,
On both scores: no.

Soldacki is more prolific and better tasting. Olena Ukrainian is a very good one, identical plant habit to Soldacki, very tall, but with bigger fruit.

Soldacki is right aloongside and has twice, no four times the fruit, and they taste a bit more complex. And they set in the heat.

I grew Olena Ukrainian in the middle of the tomato jungle because I read in Carolyn's book that it faired very well V hybrids in a disease trial. It sure is a healthy plant. But then so too is Soldacki ;)

Just made a great salsa.

See http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/bin/search.cgi?section=salsa&ingredient=

for 431 other recipes!!! I used the Avocada Salsa one with added fresh chilli. Pheweeeeeeeee! Wish I had beers.

:)Grub
