Does anyone have the pink fleshed carica papaya? I am keen to find out if they grow in SE QLD?

RE: Carica Papaya

g'day dan,

they will all grow in se/qld mate, if you get seed from the pink/red fleshed varieties you will get a bi-sexual fruiting tree with each plant it is only the yellow one that doesn't gender bi-sexual seeds.

so one quick way to get seeds is when you see a red pawpaw-papaya in the fruit shop buy one and plant the seeds.

Thanks Len. I will keep an eye out in the stores...not that I go to shops very often...perhaps I suggest it to my bride as well. Best wishes, Daniel

g'day dan,

maybe try local markets ie.,. flea markets or farmers markets, they used to have an organic growers market out brookfield way? maybe it still runs but reckon you will find you won't need to go too far to find one?

in august the same time as the once renowned brissy ekka they had a permaculture show at the brookfield show grounds they sell all that sort of produce there as well. the produce agency at brookfield i think near gold creek on brookfield road might be a go if it is still there, can be gotten to along the back roads from mt crosby road be a good sight seeing trip as well.

Thanks Len. The produce store is still there and going strong. Graham the owner still goes there but it seems his son, Errol, now runs the place. We go there a lot to buy chook food and everything else we need of that nature. have not seen any Carica Papaya there that I recall, but will keep my eye open. Thanks again.
Dan
