| Hee hee my log in still worked. Hi Spatzbear. Who else is still here?
A spur of the moment impulse to pop in - I was a regular a few years ago - nuts about tomatoes in particular... I lost all my seedlings to a late October frost one year and the forum helped me out :) I remember talking someone thru the intricacies of building a chook house (complete with diagrams and much cheering from the sidelines) - I recall it turned out great... There was a fuss made once about my welding...
So where did I disappear too - a know a few wondered as they were kind enough to email and ask. Well, I was going thru a tough time. My sister had passed away. Life seemed utterly meaningless. I questioned everything. Didn't want to garden anymore, couldn't even post feeling like such a drag. As the fog cleared I made some changes - the main one being to head off to art school...
Anyway I'm still there, painting and sculpting (the welding comes in useful :)) and just about to start my final year. The work load is huge, especially with a couple of kids and a small farm in the background which means I'll be buying supermarket tomatoes again this year - oh the shame of it...
That's going to change as soon as I finish with school of course... the garden is taunting me... I'm look forward to coming back here too.

| Wooohoooo, Amanda! It must have been a sixth sense or something that made me check this site today. I haven't been in here for yonks. Good to see you back. Glad to hear life is looking better again. Bit shocked about you BUYING tomatoes, though. *shudder* Are you really?! Do you need some seeds for next season? *grins* Glad to hear about art school. I still remember your egg carton which I thought was marvellous. Please post again here. It'll give me a good reason to check in here more often. And HI to Len, too, of course. :) Your turmeric is in a big pot. And some of it in the freezer and being used regularly in cooking. Thanks! :) |

Oh, and here is a little treat for you, Amanda.
.jpg My first handful of tomatoes. Picked today. Had them for lunch, with pesto (picked a bunch of basil this morning), and home-made sour dough baguette and focaccia (filled the focaccia with some of the pesto). |

| nice looking haul of tom's spatzbear, yeh i happen along rarely nowadays, just back here again now because of this post. great to hear you are enjoying the tumeric. feedback is what keeps forums and gardeners going hey? we are just getting some sense into all the cherry tom's we ended up with this year as i just can't pull a healthy looking plant out hey? we ended up with oodles of fruit each day from 10 bushes, still got 3 bushes sleft yep just ahd to pull 'em out hey? anyhow wife thinks i'm odd lol but i have 4 beef steaks in at present so hope they do as well as the cherries (which are stroed in all sorts of preserving ways in the fridge and freezer, just couldn't find enough people to give them away to or couldn't eat them fast enough (2 meals per day using them) hey chuckle. the fruit flies in this area seem very prevalent type hard to get control and don't want to use chem's, they even got into our jap pumpkins last year never had that before. as amanda has done often we need to take new directions in life, and it is great the hear of her successes. len |

| Mental telepathy Spatz. I haven't been here for yonks too and decided to have a look to see what was happening. Nice to hear from Amanda the welder. Some of your work left us blokes looking down and the ground kicking the dust and wondering why we couldn't do the same. I see you're quite busy and I hope life is looking up for you. |
