What's the latest on my babies, folks?!

Curious about how Green Giant, Mikado, etc are doing for those of you who are growing them (those who were distributed to by Patrina). Is Mikado continuing to enlarge?? And, Patrina, what's the latest on the dwarf F1 progress?

Craig, frantically trying to figure out what I am going to grow this year....I need at least 3 times the space I have to fit in all that I wish to try!

I'm a bit slow this year Craig. Green Giant is healthy with emerging flowers while standing about 2ft tall. Ashleigh and Gradfather Ashlock are going great too.

Actually I just checked and while there appear to be normal flowers coming the first flower on GG is a strange green one with no petals at all. Will report back soon.

Green Giant is not doing well. It's just not growing. It's about 10-15cm high, the leaves don't look that great either. No idea why, as the 2 plants are in a prime spot. Great soil, plenty of sun, etc. Maybe they'll come good soon.

Hi Craig

Mikado fruits are about the same size as Cherokee Green and Green Giant now. The 2 Green Giant plants are doing fine (containers), and the Mikado in raised bed and full sun is doing much better than the 2 plants in containers. It's quite prolific also. Will post pics again soon.

We have another dwarf cross - Caro Rich X GDC. Will add it in the Tomato Forum thread in the morning.

OK - whatsup folks? Been awhile since updates...I suppose you are all busy eating those tomatoes, saving seeds, and hanging out at Tomatoville!

It's night and I need to do a report in the morning. But I think I have good news for you. Everything is growing and setting fruit at last. I will be late, but better late than never :)

Green Giant is not yet changing colour, but the first Mikado is light pink. Will post a pic when I take it off the vine in a couple days.

Great - what is the size of Mikado (comparable to a Brandywine, smaller, etc - ??) - and be very careful with the ripe color of Green Giant. In my experience, it barely changes color at all - it softens, and the blossom end MAY get a pale pink blush...but it stays pretty much pale minty green.

can't wait to see how it tastes for you!

Craig
