Hey!? How did you do that? Why's the butternut already harvested?? And what's in the little white container with the blue lid? Nice selection. :) |

| I'd be very interested to know how come you've harvested butternut already too, if the climate where you are is the same as here - they are usually the last to fruit and mine are no where near ready to pick - some special magic? I've got some pink banana pumpkins coming on a treat - not sure when to harvest them - reading a thread on a USA forum, where they call them pink banana squash, they maintain that they can be picked while small like a squash or left to ripen like a pumpkin - if so very versatile. If anyone is growing or has grown them I'd appreciate advice. They are yellow skinned at present but apparently turn pink as they ripen. Two vines has given me 16 so far all at different sizes. |

| Great harvest and just rewards for moving out of Sydney and transforming an entire backyard. I notice butternuts are half price as thre supermarche. I guess this wasn't lost on you either :) Interested to hear whaat you think of Burracker's Favourite. You'll be pleased to know it's very humid here and the fruitfly are back ;( |

Linda, The climate here is similar in as much as the summers are fairly short. The temps are quite different though. Days are usually in the mid to high 20s, with periods in the 30s and nights between 5 and 10. Humidity is low. That doesn't explain that particular pumpkin though. It was harvested by accident some weeks ago. Grub, Burracker's Favorite's flavour I would describe as entirely satisfactory. The fruit are large and suffered badly from spliiting just after some heavy rain. Most will rot. Though not outstanding taste-wise, it is very pleasant and its beautiful appearance makes growing it worthwhile. Spatz, The names were added with Photoshop. Pumpkin explained above. The blue box with white lid is handcream. |
