Lophophora diffusa fertility

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew if L. diffusa was self-fertile.
Last year I fertilised my diffusa flower with the pollen from my williamsii because I thought they were not self-fertile. I was able to get some seed off this at the end of last summer and I will find out later if it is crossed. However, a fruit emerged from this plant with 20 seeds which is pretty rare. The most I have had from any of my willaimsii are 16. I know they are self-fertile because I don't bother to pollinate them.

Anyway, I am really looking forward to summer and I hope to have good success this year with seed raising and grafting. I will be ordering some seed from Mesa gardens. Can't wait.

Good luck to all in regards to your growing.

Danny

Just to let you know that if Mesa garden will sell you some Lopho seeds, AQIS will confiscate them - they are on the list of prohibited imports - all species of Lophophora are classified as weeds.
