Ant invasion

All my cacti/succulents have had their pots invaded by little brown ants. Most soloutions reccomend keeping the soil moist and soaking the pot in water, but being cacti I'm not sure this is a good idea. Is there anything I can water them with that will deter the ants and not harm the cacti?? Many thanks.

RE: Ant invasion

I use a liquid ant bait that you should be able to get at any bunnings. I place it along the ant trail and that reduces the problem. However, if the ants have made a home in your pots, its best to spray the soil as you will definitely have root mealy bugs, which can cause your plants to rot.
