Baby Sun Roses

I have just decided that I really like growing succulents (probably because they are so hard to kill!) but I know very little. I have the perfect spot for them in my back yard - previously it had lillies and weedy grass in it. I'm going to plant Baby Sun Roses and Pig Face and replant some of the lillies in the middle (it is a circular garden bed). Today I dug out everything. I plan to weed it with Glyphosate to kill any grass that is hiding underground. Does anyone know how long I must wait before I can plant in that garden after I have sprayed it?
Also, I hope to mix that water saver stuff into the soil and build the garden right up to get extra good drainage. Will they like growing in with the water saver stuff, I know they don't like wet feet but it would mean I wouldn't have to water them too often.
We have just had some trees cut down n some lopped and I got mulch made out of them. Do succulents like sitting in amongst mulch? I was planning on using a thick layer of mulch to help keep the weeds down and with water conservation. I can also get spent mushroom compost, would they like growing in that?
I hope you don't mind so many questions but since I started with a few Echeverias in pots on my front patio, I'm smitten! |

High Sasu don't know about the water saver stuff whatever that is but I mulch my succulents regularly but keep the mulch away from the base of the plants and you shouldn't have a problem. Regards Dave Hall |

| Hi Sasu, I'm not to sure about the water saver stuff, but with the weed spray, the bottle it came in probably says something about how long u should wait till u plant. I really don't think you need the water saver stuff, as succulents are really drought resistant and mine barely get any water, and they are growing really well. I don't think they mind a bit of mulch, but make sure it isn't resting against the base, because the plant will probably rot. I hope I helped, Poss. |
