hello all,
I recently potted up a packet of yates cactus seeds. In 1/2 potting mix and 1/2 course sand. I water them once twice a week with a light spray with a mister. I put them in a foam box and glad wrap over top. Can anyone help me out if i am doing something wrong or if there is something i can do.
Thanx

| How long ago did you plant them? I planted some over a year ago and quite a few of them took a long time to germinate, up to 3 months I think. Vanessa |

Hi Mack. If this is a mixed packet, you may have other types of succulents as well as cacti in your seed mix. Among these may be plants that dislike a cold climate. I try to keep my seedlings at a minimum of 10C. Many of the seeds from the mesembyanthemum family will germinate and grow with temperatures down to 5C. Nevertheless, in the past I lost a lot of cacti at this temperature. To germinate any of the seed I would keep the potting mix moist all the time. |

| I've had great success with Yates seeds. Just create an environment minimun 25 degress celcius for the first three weeks & you will find that most of the seeds would have germinated. I have had seeds germinate within 2 days with Yates Cactus Seeds. |
