I don't know how rare Aloe polyphylla are in Australia but in America they still seem to be. There's no mention of them on this forum, so I'll presume they still are.
Today I've noticed Big W have quite a few. They're at least 30cm wide for $12.94.
So if anyone has ever wanted to get hold of one now's the time.
Just don't pay any attention to the full sun bit on the label! No more than 30C anyway. |

Hi Moksha, Re Aloe Polyphylla in Oz,you may find the ones suddenly being so readily available here are tissue cultured plants. Up till a couple of years ago it was a very rare plant in Australia too. Likes cool climates. Bev |

| Hi moksha, can you tell me which Big W had the Aloe, and do you know how big they will grow? Only new to being interested in succulents so still a lot to learn. Thanks. Ringtail |

They really seem to be everywhere I look at the moment, I can't escape them! Big W at Elizabeth and Gawler had them, even the Coles at Gawler was getting rid of them for $10 on sale. Apparently they can grow up to a metre wide if they're put in big enough pots e.g. a half-wine barrel. But you can keep them smaller, just don't up-size your pot. Good luck! |

Hello! It took me awhile to find Spiral Aloes online. NONE of them are affordable (running near $60 ea for 5-8"! OUCH!) I finally purchased some seeds on eBay, but have not started them yet out of fear I guess...lol They sound extremely FUSSY! Anyhow...I would LOVE to purchase a started one for a decent price. Does anyone know of a source that doesn't break the bank? Is anyone here that's actually started them from seed? Just wondering. Thanks! Felicia |

| Hi, Im in Perth and have just planted one in full sun, will it perish if left there? It looks fine now and its been out a few weeks? Wont they handle temps above 30C? |

| Hi Yisrelee, I guess we'll have to wait and see. ;) As Bev said, they really are cool loving plants and can tolerate frost well. Probably do great in the lower Sth.East and Victoria. I definately would move them out of full sun in Perth, from what I've managed to find on the net, I really think more than 30 will be asking a bit much from them. I've got mine in shade for most of the day. Good luck! |

So far so good, but it is a bigish fella about 8" diameter and in our sand, but i water it every day. The little un out in the back seems to be suffering a bit, may move that one. Anyone tried A. plicitilis? |

| My 2 are coping surprisingly well in half sun, even over the recent heat wave (40+!), watering once a week. You shouldn't have any problems with the plicitilis. It's a slow, winter grower so don't water it much in summer. |
