| Anyone out there using cow or horse manure in their potting mix ? |

| I have used horse manure in potting mix for years ,I have a couple of hundred Epiphyllum growing well in a 50/50 mix. |

Hi Alco
As I said I don't use much potting mix but I do mix it in my garden soil after it has been through a mulcher to break it up.This can get a bit messy so where a mask and make sure the neighbours washing isn't on the line if using this method.I also use composted seaweed when I can it I'm only about 5 mins from the beach but we haven't had much this year.I also plan to make my own liquid seaweed frtiliser this year by putting seaweed insome water and waiting for it to decompose then diluting and using it on my plants after some careful experimentation.I believe the same thing can be done with animal manure but an enclosed container for decomposure is a must.

| I usually let it sit for a few weeks for the potting mix ,I manage to pick up a fair amount of sand with the manure ,the chooks go through and remove any oats or wheat.I have used it straight from the production line with no problems. |

I buy the dry granulated form(s) and let that ferment in a 5 gallon bucket with water so the neighbourgs get their fair share of cactus enjoyment :-)
Use the supernatant for watering I use a 1/5 1/10 dilution depending on the mood ... |

Hi i have it on tap too. i let it sit for a bit until it dries out them cover the beds with it or put it in the bottom the the pots and mix it up with sand as well

| I bought 4 tonnes of cow manure and let it compost down to a fluffy soil constituency .I mix this 1/3 with 1/3 limestone gravel (cracker dust) ,1/3 composted garden soil (Lawn cuttings ,paper and kitchen vegetable waste composted to a soil) |
