Help! My agave is dying
| | |
Posted by Rosie101 South Australia (My Page) on Sat, Aug 14, 04 at 10:55
I bought it a month ago in a pot and have kept it inside as it is a cold frosty winter here.
The water meter says that there is minimal water in the pot which I thought was right but the leaves are dying in 1" spots on the edge.
Any ideas please? It is in a cool room with no heater |

| Perhaps it is in need of nourishment. No water and maybe it is root bound too. You could try unpotting it to inestigate, then repot if necessary. I have kept my "hardy" Agave's outside all winter and they're fine, although sometimes the ends of the leaves wilt a bit. I'm not worried about it though, because they'll drop off anyway. If yours is still relatively small, the scarred leaves will disappear soon enough anyway. Jon |

| when you say "water meter" Im thinking you have it in a self watering pot? I wouldnt use these for succulents because you never get proper drainage with them |

| thank you. I think I might repot it and not be so delicate with it. My Kalancho Bronze Sculpture is suffering too so I might do the same with that. |

Hi Rosie I live in the Adelaide hills and all my agave live outside. I have them under my veranda. I also have them in a potting mix with a bit of sand added for dranage. They are all doing fine. I hope this is of some help. Rose |
