Pachypodium lamerii winter care

Hi all, I know that there's only 4 of us..but I was wondering if any of you have a pachypodium lamerii? Mine still has its leaves, I bring it in at night and race it out first thing every morning to get northern warmth. Americans put there's in the shed for winter and leave them. I don't want to kill it with kindness. Is it better to let it go dormant? I had a hard time getting this plant so I don't want to lose it.

RE: Pachypodium lamerii winter care

Hello julie,

i would like to know too. I have a few Patchypodiums.
I have them all undercover in a shed . They get a fair amount of light , but some should be watered in winter and some should not. My P. namesquanum I think is growing and should be watered but I think our P.Lameri should be kept moist but not wet.

Unfortunatly our active American friends are pre occupied with spring ... but there is a post for pachypodiums now active with 27 replies , but I suppose you have found that. It is a pity we cant get advice more suited to our present needs in Australia.

Baldric

ps what part of Aust do you live in . Im in Bacchus Marsh

Thanks Baldric, I've spent hours looking up info but as you know different regions give different advice and don't really apply. I'm keeping my lameri on the dry side and it seems to be fine. I live in Broken Hill, NSW, cold but dry. So far I've only lost a few plants, mainly sempervivums, they didn't like our summer one bit. I think its all just trial & error to find out what works. With the price of water rising so much, plants that do well on next to no water and suvive are the ones I go for.
