best time for re-potting?

| if you did't know already i am wondering when is the best time for re-potting?
I am in sydeny and have a huge old fero cactus (or somthin) and it is sitting in a rather crappy looking pot. As it may not grow much larger than it is now i am planning on putting i into a much more unique pot (yet to be obtained).

| Looks like and old warrior ,it has a few battle scars .I would pot it into some thing not much bigger than the one its in ,say 1" bigger .Probably when the weather is warmer may be in spring would be a good time. |

| it does look a bit beaten up a bit, but i like it still because it is so old. |

| I live in Townsville,N.Q. so i really don't getextreme weather. I replant when ever they need to be, but not before(if you know) or after rain. |
